SUMMARY:Homeschool Day: Revolutionary Medicine & Diseases
DESCRIPTION:Due to repeated no shows; in 2026\, families who sign up and repeatedly no-show will be removed from the list in order to have a more accurate picture of expected attendance.  \nOnce a month\, the Rev War Center offers a free homeschool day where small school groups can come together and experience one of the educational programs offered by the Center. A minimum of ten students will be needed to host these educational programs\, if the minimum is not met then parents will be notified a week prior that the program will be canceled. Programs are geared toward students in 3rd grade through high school. Younger students are welcome to attend and follow along\, but will need the assistance of their guardian throughout the program. Adults are welcome to sit in on the program\, just be aware that the focus will be on teaching the young students present. \nSign up today at simplyrevolutionary.com \nMay: Revolutionary Medicine & Diseases \nWelcome to Camden’s Hospital. First attend 18th century medical school and then get to diagnosing and treating patients. Will a limb need to be amputated? What is the treatment for a fever and rash all over the body? That is up to you! But be warned not all your patients will survive treatment. By the end students will appreciate how far medicine has come since the American Revolution. \nsuggested age group:\nany

SUMMARY:Thursday Talk Taverns: The Original Social Network of Colonial America
DESCRIPTION:Long before social media\, taverns were the bustling nerve centers of colonial life—places where every spoonful of stew and sip of switchel carried news\, shaped opinions\, and forged powerful alliances. More than simple eateries\, these lively hubs connected farmers\, merchants\, travelers\, and politicians alike. \nGathered around warm hearths\, locals and visitors shared hearty meals—think stews\, salted meats\, and fresh bread—sourced from the land and sea. With mugs of switchel\, shrubs\, cider\, and herbal infusions in hand\, conversations sparked everything from local gossip to revolutionary ideas. \nMistress Katie Hamilton-Smith\, a lifelong history enthusiast and former tavern mistress of the iconic Rising Sun Tavern in Fredericksburg\, Virginia\, takes you inside the vibrant social ecosystem of 18th-century taverns—where community was built\, power was brokered\, and everyday life laid the groundwork for a nation. \n RSVP @ simplyrevolutionary.com

SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn: Moultrie & the Battle of Sullivan’s Island
DESCRIPTION:June 28\, 1776 will forever be Carolina Day in South Carolina\, but why is that? Why do South Carolinians celebrate a day during the American Revolution that no other state focuses on? National Park Volunteer for Fort Moultrie\, Norm Rickeman wants all to know about the miraculous victory that occurred against the mighty British Navy and a small incomplete Patriot fort made up of sand and Palmetto logs. With little in way of supplies and no real back up\, Colonel William Moultrie defended Charleston Harbor against a British invasion; that had the British succeeded\, would have led to a very different outcome in our American Revolution. Join us with your lunch and dive into the remarkable history that is the Battle of Sullivan’s Island. \nCopies of Mr. Rickeman’s book will be on sale during the event. \n(You bring your lunch and  we will provide the learning opportunity!) \n RSVP @ simplyrevolutionary.com
