Lunch & Learn: The Charleston Patriots: Strangers in a Strange Land

A few months after the surrender of Charles Town in 1780 the British rounded up and arrested sixty-three of the most prominent leaders of the Revolutionary movement in South Carolina despite pledging on their honor that they would not violate the terms of their parole. They were sent to East Florida where they were held against their will under town arrest in St. Augustine as prisoners of war for 9 months.
Robert Ryals returns to the Rev War Visitor Center to share this dramatic and sometimes amusing historic storytelling experience based on the diary and experiences of Josiah Smith, a Charles Town merchant.
There will be a $5 fee to attend this program. Attendees can pay in cash or by check at the door the day of the program.
